PEAKED Pre-Workout - Premium Pump Matrix
Peaked is an elixir containing safe and proven ingredients that will fuel productive training sessions through massive pumps and powerful, jitter-free energy! It was specifically designed to be taken prior to workouts but also can be used to improve mental acuity before a big day at work, for energy before a late night out, or to improve athletic performance before competition.
PEAKED Pre-Workout Ingredients Panel
L-citrulline is an amino acid. Nitrosigine is a patented complex of bonded arginine silicate that has been clinically studied for safety and efficacy in thirty studies. Both increase vasodilation by increasing plasma arginine levels.
In a head to head study, 8g of citrulline malate (yielding a little more than 5000mg of pure l-citrulline) and nitrosigine were shown to independently increase vasodilation by approximately 30%; this means that both compounds are very effective at increasing NO, since vasodilation is primarily mediated by NO production by endothelial cells.
We considered including as much as 10,000 mg of l-citrulline in Peaked, but, in testing, found this dose provided no greater pumps than the 4000 mg of citrulline malate dose we included in combination with the nitrosigine and other high-dosed pump-inducing ingredients.
We also found that this dose of citrulline minimizes GI distress, which is a trick Dr. O’Connor uses in medicine with his patients too when they experience side effects from high doses of one drug; often smaller doses of multiple compounds taken together to achieve the same outcome synergistically exceed the positive effects of a high dose of one compound while minimizing side effects. We used the malate bound form of l-citrulline, citrulline malate, because it is the most studied form of l-citrulline for athletic performance and malic acid is independently a good ingredient, as it is involved in the creation of cellular energy.
Beta Alanine is a non-essential amino acid. It combines with the amino acid histidine to form a dipeptide called carnosine. Over time, carnosine acts as a buffer to help delay the onset of lactic acid and muscle fatigue and failure, while building endurance and improving recovery. Also, beta alanine, as a building block of carnosine, may be an antioxidant and anti-aging compound. Beta alanine may cause a harmless tingling sensation called paresthesia.
In fact, beta alanine does not need to be taken pre-workout necessarily, but so many people associate paresthesia with pre workout products, that we included it in our formula. Note that in order to reap the full benefits of beta alanine, take at least 3.2 grams per day, even on your off days.
Betaine Anhydrous is a methyl donor and osmylite. Some studies have shown a significant increase in endurance, power, and fat loss with its use. The research also indicates it may upregulate IGF-1 receptor expression. Additionally, it supports protein digestion via increased stomach acid production.
VasoDrive AP is a patented mix of two peptides derived from casein that acts as an angiotensin converting enzyme (“ACE”) inhibitor, a class of compounds that relax blood vessels. VasoDrive AP has been extensively studied in humans, showing a safe and significant vasodilation effect, and a decrease in blood pressure.
These effects are significant for performance; in fact, some studies suggest ACE inhibitors should be classified as performance enhancing drugs.
Agmatine Sulphate increases the form of NO that assists in muscular pumps (eNOS), but decreases other forms that may be inflammatory in excess, making it an excellent ingredient alongside other NO stimulating products. Additionally, it is neuroprotective, including having anti-anxiety effects and reductions in the sensation of pain.
S7 is a patented blend of green coffee bean extract, green tea extract, turmeric, tart cherry, blueberry, broccoli, and kale that has been clinically shown to increase NO by 230%. S7 is not a nitrate product - it triggers the body’s production of NO. This small blend of antioxidants will likely not hinder your adaptive response to training like large doses of vitamin C or E would proximate to training.
Taurine is an organic amino acid that is very well tolerated. It confers many health benefits, including formation of new blood vessels. It has been shown in some studies to increase exercise workload and volume and decrease muscle soreness. It is anecdotally known to reduce cramping from stimulants, including stimulants bodybuilders and powerlifters shouldn’t be taking but are (like ephedrine). It may reduce anxiety.
L-tyrosine is a stimulatory amino acid that is very common in the human body. It shines when acute stressors are present, like sleep deprivation, by reducing the stress via assisting in producing noradrenaline and dopamine. It may assist in overcoming stress-induced memory and attention deficits.
Caffeine is a renowned stimulant with numerous, positive health and ergogenic benefits. Caffeine antagonizes adenosine receptors promoting wakefulness and influencing the dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine, and adrenaline systems. Fat loss effects from caffeine typically occur above 200 mg and acute strength benefits occur at 4-6mg/kg of bodyweight. It is classified as a nootropic because it sensitizes neurons and provides cognitive improvement. It may reduce the risk of alzheimers, liver disease, and cirrhosis.
Caffeine is the most researched stimulant in existence and very well tolerated; due to its extensive research and established benefits, we included a hefty dose of it rather than combining other, less researched and potentially dangerous stimulants.
Alpha GPC is a form of choline that supports cognitive enhancement, including memory, sharpness, focus, and benefits athletic performance. It has been studied for the treatment of alzheimers and other dementias. It is a great pre workout ingredient because in addition to its cognitive supporting benefits, which it shares with other forms of supplementary choline, it has unique power output benefits!
It has been shown in studies to increase power output in athletes and increase growth hormone. Studies have shown that it increases strength after only a few days of supplementation in some instances and scientists have recommended that strength coaches consider encouraging their athletes to supplement with alpha gpc.
Cocoa Extract lowers blood pressure, improves cardiovascular function and glucose metabolism, and reduces platelet aggregation and adhesion due to its ability to activate nitric oxide synthase and its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Astragin is a patented natural compound that assists in nutrient uptake by activating transporter molecules in the small intestine. In fact, Astragin has been clinically shown to increase l-citrulline absorption by 66.7%.
Astragin has been shown in sixteen in-vitro and eight in-vivo studies to that are published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Molecular Nutrition & Food Research and Scientific Reports to: increase the absorption of peptides, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, and phytonutrients by up-regulating the absorption specific mRNA and transporters, such as SGLT1, CAT1, and GLUT4; rejuvenate ulcerated and damaged intestinal walls and reduce intestinal submucosa inflammation; reduce ulceration and unclear surfaces of intestinal epithelial cells and submucosal edema in TNBS-induced colitis rats; support the digestive system by maintaining a healthy microbiota population by mending ulcerated and damaged intestinal epithelial cell surfaces for the microbiota to populate; support stronger immune functions by mending ulcerated epithelial cells and reducing the inflammation in intestinal mucosal lamina propria that hosts the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT1), T cells, plasma cells, mast cells, dendritic cells, and macrophages. Simply put, a lot of issues like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) are often related to an improper transport of nutrients and/or increased inflammation in the gut, which Astragin directly improves. And as far as the immediate improvement - the ingredients in Peaked hit much harder stacked with Astragin!
There are several popular pre-workout ingredients we intentionally did not include in our formula. Read below if you’re curious why we didn’t include glycerol, creatine, nitrates, and other popular ingredients.
